sal·ma·gun·di

/salməˈgəndē/

noun: salmagundi; plural noun: salmagundis

A dish of chopped meat, anchovies, eggs, onions, and seasoning

A general mixture; a miscellaneous collection. See below.

It may come as no surprise at this point, but I am a fan of obscure words (and language in general). I particularly like obscure words that can be use to so perfectly describe a thing, person or situation, far better than modern language can. Salmagundi, to me, captures the essence of my life - it's a general mixture of things that probably wouldn't necessarily seem to go well together. But they do. It's a beautiful mish-mash of giggles, messes, frustration, growth, rest, play, work, order, exercise, discipline, food, spontaneity, chaos, and cases upon cases of Magic Erasers.

In addition to the things you'll find here about me as a professional, I wanted to share a little bit about me as a person. I enjoy being around people, a couple of small people in particular (and their dad). I love adventures - whether it's travel or trying something new, like stand-up paddleboarding or an ecclectic restaurant. My sense of humor has a healthy dose of satire, something that probably comes from being a government employee for a decade! I love creative writing and wish I could more adeptly weave humor into it. I enjoy running, and I prefer to run in barefoot shoes when I can. I spend a lot of my time on projects around home, whether it's sewing curtains, painting a wall, building a bed, trimming our hedges, or being thwarted by the tree in our front yard which refuses to be pruned in a way that doesn't leave it looking like it's leaning to the left, I usually have a project or six that I'm working on. I spent some time working in Ecuador and studying in Spain, and I speak Spanish nearly fluently, but I'm not nearly as good at writing it.

I hope you enjoy clicking around on my page and maybe find something that makes your day a little brighter. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions at the links above or the email form below.

Take care!
